2019 Free Choice CSA
What is a CSA?
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a model in which customers pay farmers at the beginning of the season for a share of their harvest, delivered throughout the growing season. Farmers receive an influx of cash when they need it most and customers receive local produce for a discounted price. It’s also a great way to get to know your farmers, try new vegetables, learn new recipes, and share in the joy of eating and cooking.
Free Choice Model
Our free choice model allows you to choose what vegetables you want. Each week we will have anywhere from 15 to 30 different vegetables to choose from at the farmers market and our farm stand. With the free choice model, you can choose a variety of vegetables or you can choose to take a share’s worth of salad, if that’s what suits you. If you have to miss a week, no problem, you can pick up your items the week before, the week after, or a combination of the two. Or send a friend to pick it up for you.
What is an item?
Examples of an item include a bunch of kale or carrots, a pound of tomatoes, or a bag of salad. Smaller bunches (herbs, radishes, salad turnips) are a half item, while higher value items such as a pint of cherry tomatoes are an item and a half. Each vegetable will be clearly marked with its item value.
